I support this motivation wholeheartedly and suggest that mastery of certain basic techniques will assist individuals in creating the music they find most pleasing. I have no wish to impose traditional music training such as note reading or repetitious skill development to any degree beyond the desire of the individual student. Many players will discover, however, that a certain amount of thoughtful practice blended with their own creative expression will improve results and thus increase the gratification they receive from flute playing."
